Easy Milk Painted World Map
I had an idea. I should milk paint a large world map!
(excuse the messy kitchen and dark lighting, it was late – this is real life sorry)
Good idea right? I had all the supplies at home, the weird thing was it was 11 pm on a Friday night ha ha.
It’s how I roll.
I’m telling you guys, this is a quick and easy project. Start to finish in 20 mins.
What you need to paint a world map
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint – I used Curio, but you can use any colour and any good quality milk paint.
Water
World Map Stencil – available online here
Paint – I used the colour parchment in chalk-style paint like this.
Brush – I love Cling On Brushes
Stencil Brush – I use these ones (you can also just tape the ends of your cling on brush together and use that)
Wood pallet – build your own or you can use plywood
Sanding block
(this bottle has been around my house for a while….just keeping it real)
Easy How-To
Step 1
Mix 2 parts water to 1 part Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint
Step 2
Brush paint on a pallet, wipe back as desired with a paper towel
Step 3
Place stencil on board
Step 4
Using your stencil brush, dip into the paint, then WIPE off all paint on a piece of paper towel. Your brush should be almost dry. Pounce or swirl paint to stencil.
Step 5
Once the paint is dry, sand and distress as desired, then topcoat with MMS Hemp Oil
See, easy peasy. Milk Paint dries super fast, especially when used as a stain.
I literally did this in 20 mins, no kidding, from thought to finish.
If you don’t have a World Map stencil, you could do one using an easy trace method like here.
Sorry about the dark photos, it was 11 pm. Paint nerds paint on Friday nights. Ha Ha.
Have a super-duper week friends,
Cheers,
Wendy
Love it – can’t wait to do mine!
Can’t WAIT to see yours :)
Super cool! Your hair looks great, too.
