Hi, Front Porch Friends!

I’ve been MIA a bit here on the blog as I’ve been super busy getting our house ready to sell (can I just tell you downsizing is NOT fun and there will be a few blog posts on that – someone needs to talk me off the ledge lol) and I’ve been a bit waylaid since my mom fell and broke her back (she’s recovering and thank you for the prayers those of you who knew about it).

I’ve been painting and updating and doing ALL the small things I always wanted to do around my house and I should probably be doing DIY posts every day. I “think”I painted 22 things in the last 2 weeks – for real. The funny part is we did all the big things it was just the little things and some de-cluttering that needed to be done. Phew.

Expect upcoming blog posts on some of the DIY projects like my Fusion painted front door (that I painted twice because I am a woman who changes her mind often – good thing you can repaint over paint) ha ha, also my refinished oak table with Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint and Fusions new Stain and Finishing Oil, a new bar we finished with Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint and more. (posting these for accountability so I make myself write the blog posts ha ha)

I have been posting lots of FB lives though, updates and projects. On a couple of my videos I showed the fun new “grafitti” piece I painted up and promised a blog post.

I painted up a leather bench a few years ago – yup I did – you can see how I did that with FAT Paint chalk paint HERE

Here is how it looked originally WAY back then – for real guys. Plain old black leather.

Then after I painted it (you can read about that HERE)

It held up REALLY well but there were a few scratches and I wanted to “repurpose” it down in the games room.

I saw this super cool chair, painted with Fusion Mineral Paint and Funky Junk Stencils by Bliss Ranch and loved it. It gave me an idea and inspiration.

Since we carry the Funky Junk Stencils I had them all sitting right there in my studio…so….I just grabbed them and started painting. I used FAT Paint chalk paint as the bench had been waxed. I will admit, I just wiped it clean and started stencilling. This bench will not get a lot of wear so I didn’t stress too much.

I didn’t plan, or place or think, I just started randomly putting the stencils on. It was super fun. I top coated with Clear Natural Wax.

Sand after stencilling to rough up and blend the words.

Why didn’t I do that long ago?

I’m digging the way it turned out, what do you think?

(a nod to turning 50 this year) lol

Here it is in the games room.

Thanks for popping in Front Porch Friends, I hope to post a few more posts soon about DIY and Downsizing – oh the joy!

PS – see how Donna from Funky Junk was a little inspired by our bench to do her entire patio furniture.

Supplies Needed to Grafitti Painted Leather bench
