We’ve been hearing about the eagle viewing in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia for years but had never been. So this was the year!
It’s really quite fascinating and a wonderful winter day trip if you are in the area for family, photographers and nature lovers.
For the last 20 years, eagles have flocked to the area, and the crowds of eagle lovers have as well. The eagles gather here becasue of the
The Bald Eagles as well as other birds of prey frequent the area largely due to chicken farmers leaving meals for them in some of the surrounding fields. It’s said, that more than 500 eagles have been counted some years during the Eagle Watch and it is not unusual to have a tree with more than 30 birds perched in it.
A great day trip to see the Sheffield Mills Eagles.

During the eagles are fed twice a day during certain months. Check ahead for the schedule here.
There were about 20 eagles the day we were there and a handful of photographers. During busy times there can be bus tours there with spectactors!

This is the best location to find the fields: 1770 Middle Dyke Rd, Centreville, NS B0P 1J0
There is parking and signage. Nearby you can find the community center, during non-pandemic times, it’s open for information and breakfasts. Check ahead here.
